Swipe & Sniff (“Swipe & Sniff,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) is a personal scent-memory app designed to help users remember fragrances they have tried, their preferences, and personal notes about those fragrances.
This Privacy Policy explains what information Swipe & Sniff collects, how we use and protect that information, and the choices available to you.
Information We Collect
Account Information
When you create a Swipe & Sniff account, we collect your email address. Your email address is used to create and authenticate your account and allow you to access your saved scent memories across supported devices.
Swipe & Sniff uses Supabase to provide account authentication, database, and cloud infrastructure services. Supabase Auth associates an authenticated account with an email address and unique user identifier.
Scent Memories
When you use Swipe & Sniff, we store information you choose to save, including:
- fragrances you mark Like or Nope;
- Private Notes you write about fragrances; and
- information necessary to associate those saved scent memories with your account.
Your scent ratings and Private Notes are used to provide the scent-memory features of the app.
Private Notes are intended for your personal use and are not displayed publicly to other Swipe & Sniff users.
Communications
If you contact us by email, we receive the email address you use to contact us and any information you voluntarily include in your message.
Swipe & Sniff’s Email Petal feature opens your device’s email application. Swipe & Sniff does not require you to submit a support message through the app itself.
How We Use Your Information
We use information associated with your account to:
- create and authenticate your account;
- save and restore your scent preferences and Private Notes;
- make your saved scent memories available when you sign in;
- provide and maintain Swipe & Sniff;
- respond to questions, support requests, bug reports, and feedback;
- protect the security and integrity of the service; and
- comply with applicable legal obligations.
We do not use your scent preferences or Private Notes to create a public user profile.
How We Share Information
We do not sell your personal information.
We do not share your scent preferences or Private Notes with other Swipe & Sniff users.
We use service providers where necessary to operate Swipe & Sniff. In particular, Swipe & Sniff uses Supabase for services including account authentication, database functionality, and cloud infrastructure. Supabase describes customer-submitted application data as Customer Data that it generally processes on behalf of its customer.
Information may also be disclosed when reasonably necessary to comply with applicable law, legal process, or governmental requests; protect the security or integrity of Swipe & Sniff; or protect our rights or the rights and safety of others.
Advertising
Swipe & Sniff does not contain third-party advertising.
We do not sell your personal information for advertising purposes.
Device Permissions and Location
Swipe & Sniff’s core scent-memory features do not require access to your precise location, contacts, photos, camera, or microphone.
Our infrastructure providers may process technical information ordinarily generated when an internet-connected service is used, such as IP address, device or browser information, and security or access logs. For example, Supabase states that its services may process device, IP-address, usage, and log information in connection with providing and securing its services.
Data Security
We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards designed to protect information associated with Swipe & Sniff accounts.
Swipe & Sniff uses authenticated accounts and database access controls to restrict access to user-owned information. Our current Supabase architecture uses authenticated user tokens together with Row Level Security to restrict database access. Supabase documents this architecture as a method for controlling access to database records on a per-user basis.
No method of electronic storage or transmission is completely secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Data Retention
We retain your account information and saved scent memories for as long as your Swipe & Sniff account remains active or as reasonably necessary to provide the service.
Information may be retained for a longer period where reasonably necessary to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, prevent fraud or abuse, or protect the security of the service.
Account and Data Deletion
You may delete your Swipe & Sniff account from the Account section of the app by selecting Delete Account and confirming the deletion.
Deleting your account permanently deletes the Swipe & Sniff account and the user-owned scent-memory data associated with it, including your Likes, Nopes, and Private Notes, except for information we may be legally required or otherwise permitted to retain.

Both Apple and Google require account deletion to encompass the account and associated user data rather than merely disabling the account.
Children’s Privacy
Swipe & Sniff is not directed to children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13, we will take reasonable steps to delete that information.
Third-Party Links
Swipe & Sniff may contain links that open third-party services, such as Instagram. Those services operate independently of Swipe & Sniff and have their own privacy practices and policies.
We encourage you to review the privacy policies of third-party services you choose to use.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as Swipe & Sniff develops or as our privacy practices change.
When we make changes, we will update the Effective Date at the top of this page. Material changes may also be communicated through the app or by other appropriate means.
